Bob Winter

Robert 'Bob' Winter (born 1937 in Maryhill, Glasgow, Scotland) is the Lord Provost of Glasgow. He was first elected a Labour councillor on Glasgow City Council in 1999, serving the Summerston ward. In 2007, he was re-elected as one of four councillors for Ward 15, which includes Maryhill and the Kelvin area of Glasgow's West End. Following his re-election, he was nominated as Lord Provost by fellow councillors on Glasgow's ruling Labour group.[1]

From 1996 to 2003, he served as a trustee of Greater Glasgow Primary Care NHS Trust.[2] He was Member of the General Medical Council from 1996 to 2003, and an Associate Member from 2003. He has been Chairman of the Risk Management Authority since 2004.

Winter was previously director of social work at Strathclyde Regional Council.[3]

He is a former pupil of Allan Glen's school and an alumnus of Glasgow and Strathclyde universities.[4]
